Construction of a rubble-mound breakwater and two rubble-mound
ties was completed at the site (Figure 27). The breakwater was
long with a crest el varying from +17 to +22 ft mllw. The

wide, and side slopes were
on the ocean side
on the harbor side. The existing Ballona Creek north
and
jetty was extended 760 ft in length and became the marina south
jetty, and a 2,000-ft-long north jetty was constructed. The crest
of the jetties were +14 ft mllw with a width of 1 ft. Side

The breakwater was model tested
slopes were constructed
(Brasfeild 1965) and was necessary to reduce waves entering the
wide entrance channel and reflecting off the vertical concrete
perimeter walls to an acceptable level.
The structures presently are in satisfactory condition.
