3.1 Geology and Soils

This proposed dredge area is located offshore of Imperial Beach near the Mexican border in 40 to 50 feet
of water, and covers approximately 22 acres. The site originally investigated was over 650 acres in size.
This site is located within the Silver Strand Littoral Cell. Sand was found that is medium- to coarse-grained
and brownish-gray to light-gray in color, and is suitable for beach nourishment.
