Construction and Rehabilitation History
The small-boat basin was authorized, including construction of two
1954
rubble-mound breakwaters with a combined length of 3,900
and
removal of a
rubble-mound breakwater constructed by the
Port of Bellingham in 1934.
Construction of a small-boat basin was completed. The breakwaters
1958
were constructed on a gravel mat to compensate for poor foundation
conditions.
The River and Harbor Act authorized harbor expansion.
1960
Harbor expansion was completed, including construction of a 1,500-ft
1980
rubble-mound breakwater.
The harbor and cross sections of the breakwaters are shown in Fig-
1985
ure 67. There are no reports of needed repairs or rehabilitation for
the breakwaters.
