Perched beaches are suitable where offshore slopes are gradual enough for location of the sill at a
reasonable distance from shore in shallow water. Sheet piling will usually provide the best containment
for the fill but it presents a hazard due to the sudden step of f to deeper water. Rubble sills are not as
hazardous, but retention of the fill will require the use of a filter. All submerged sill materials are
potentially hazardous to boaters.
